Shades of England in this grand and gracious family home set in 74 acres of sleepy country, only one and a half hours from Melbourne. Jill is delightful and does things instinctively and generously: a fire in the sitting-room, the best linen on old antique half-testers and croquet and tennis in the garden.....

.... The house was built in 1865 and has original pine floors and doors running all the way through that give it a very cosy feel. There are tartan sofas in the snug sitting-room, Japanese prints on the walls, rugs on floors and a day bed in the conservatory. Outside, white iceberg roses fill the courtyard and in good weather you can have breakfast there. Big, elegant "country house" bedrooms spoil you all the way. One has an open fire and the original baker’s oven. There are ceiling fans, air-conditioners, fresh flowers, good shower rooms and rich fabrics; nothing disappoints. The gardens here are also impressive, with a rich mix of non-native trees and climbing roses that roam at will on the front verandah, but amid all the grandeur of Elliminook it is Jill and her gentle ways that shine most brightly.
