Anne’s home, sequestered behind protective walls in fashionable Kooyong/Toorak, is a find for those who want a truly friendly place to call their own in one of Australia’s big smokes. Carlisle is a beautiful 1910 federation home with twelve-foot ceilings, original open fireplaces on angled walls, wide corridors, enormous bedrooms and a large flower garden that is lit up at night… But it is Anne herself, as is always the case with the best B&Bs, who makes your stay special.....

.... You don’t feel you have to ask before collapsing into one of the sofas or grabbing a book from a shelf… although perhaps you should! Breakfasts are the cherry on the cake, so to speak, with variations such as cheese and chive soufflés, scrambled eggs and chipolatas, omelettes… and the orange juice is freshly squeezed, yes it is. The music system, TV and video etc are at your disposal, pour yourself drinks in the drawing room (and write them down) and generally make yourself at home. Charlie the brown labrador likes to bring in the newspaper in the morning and will hand it to you whilst your having breakfast. Melbourne’s top restaurants, antique shops and sporting facilities are all nearby.
