Sweeping through mottled vines to Provençal pencil pines, walled gardens and espaliered olives, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d ventured into a rustic French village. Raked courtyards and gravel tributaries lead to a cluster of simple, blue-stone cottages.....

.... Inside, the wood-floored rooms are gorgeous, with elegant sitting-rooms and king-sized beds, plump with feather eiderdowns and piles of pillows. Some have kitchens, others sun rooms and all have log fires and country-style antiques spilling onto sunny verandahs. You’ll soon be seduced onto an enchanting lawn peppered with agapanthus, to play pétanque or laze in a hammock strung between gum trees, or just to dip your feet in the cooling creek at the end of garden, serenaded by birdsong on the breeze. The setting is an undeniable idyll, but the real draw card here is the food. Wyndham is a classically trained chef who has cooked the world over. He’ll present you with an individually tailored, 8-course dégustation menu, perfectly married with wine sourced from those hidden wineries that tourists never seem to find. Best of all, you can eat wherever you want. Patricia will set up a table in the privacy of your own suite or in one of the inner courtyards. You may prefer to eat amongst the David Austen roses or, most magical of all, in twilight by Jacob’s Creek itself.
